Oeko-Tex to address AATCC Pacific Section
Dr Manfred Wentz, US director of Switzerland-based textile testing organisation Oeko-Tex, is to speak at the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) Pacific Section meeting. The invitation follows his recent presentation at the international AATCC Symposium entitled “Fashion Garment Washing: Trends, Fabrics, Technologies and Sustainability”, was held in Long Beach, California on December 13. The meeting was attended by approximately 200 AATCC members from around the world and focused on textile ecology and sustainability.
Chair of the AATCC Pacific Section, Stuart Williamson, says: “The West Coast textile industry is very interested in textile safety and ecology. Companies in the apparel and home furnishings segments are particularly sensitive to the growing consumer demand for safe textile products.”
The Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification guarantees manufacturers, retailers, and consumers that textile products are free from harmful levels of more than 100 substances that can be dangerous to humans.
