Uncertainty over the future venue for OutDoor has been resolved by a vote in favour of keeping the fair at Friedrichshafen, Germany, from 2009 to 2013. The secret involved the 47 member firms of the European Outdoor Group eligible to vote.

The event has been held at the same venue on the shores of Lake Constance since 1994, and visitor and exhibitor numbers have more than tripled in the 14 years it has been running.
