Maus Freres now holds 95.6 percent of Gant shares

Swiss holding company Maus Frères S.A., which owns the Lacoste brand, has upped its stake in Sweden-based apparel, footwear and accessories company Gant Company AB through its subsidiary Procastor S.A.

The company has acquired more than 10 million extra shares in the firm, representing 59.7% percent of the shares, for SEK320 ($50) per share. This includes the shares of Gant's chairman, Lennart Björk, and those of a number of Gant's major franchisees. Maus Frères now owns 16,031,138, or 95.6% of its shares.

Gant currently operates in more than 70 countries through more than 310 independent Gant stores and more than 4,000 retailers.
