Creator of the year named at Interfilière
Interfilière 2008, held in Paris from January 24-26, welcomed 15,037 visitors, 10,133, or 67.4% of whom came from abroad. Italy and the UK held on to the top two places in terms of visitor attendance with 11.4% and 6.4% of total visitor numbers respectively, while Germany climbed back from fourth to third place ahead of Spain. Buyer numbers from Eastern Europe also continue to rise and significant growth was recorded from Mexico, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Syria. Asian attendees had the highest number of visitors after Europe, comprising more than 10% of total visitors. Lingerie manufacturers represented 28% of visitors; however, the number of ready-to-wear manufacturers doubled at this session.
The three key features at the General Forum is the ultimate tool were: 'Tomorrow’s Lingerie' by Northumbria University in conjunction with Eurojersey; the 'Ecstasy' collection of menswear prints by Une Affaire de Goût, Be Be Cotton Knitting, Rocle By Isabella and Miroglio; and 'Crazy Knickers' created by the Access Folies sector.
Meanwhile, Speaker's Corner discussions included seamless garments, cosmeto-textiles and new ecological concepts. Chanty Lace, which produces Textronic and Jacquardtronic lace, was named 'Creator of the Year' at the event.
