Hyosung launches recycled nylon and polyester at ispo

04/02/2008

Korea-based producer of nylon-6 fibre and polyester Hyosung launched new recycled nylon and polyester Mipan regen fibres at ispo, held January 27-30 in Munich.

The company's nylon performance unit uses post industrial and consumer waste including nylon fishing nets, BFC carpets and nylon fabrics to produce a range of Mipan regen nylon fibres. The recycled nylon chip is made from recaptured caprolactam. The fibre is then extruded and made into textiles, which are said to offer the same quality and performance as its standard nylon yarns. Benefits include: reduced energy consumption; reduction of landfill waste; and conservation of petroleum resources.

It also uses PET bottles and some post consumer waste to produce regen polyester, which is made from 100% recycled materials.
