New Schoeller trends for summer 2009
Switzerland-based textile firm Schoeller has unveiled new “understated yet glamorous” trends for summer 2009.
Its nature and engineering theme incorporates fabrics with natural fibres and technical finishes. Light, artificial sheen effects and blurred structures are an important part of the trend and its yarn-dyed linen offers transparent shimmer. Meanwhile, textured cotton inspired by Lacoste with 3XDRY and NanoSphere offers practical, self-cleaning functionality. Slightly transparent cotton micropolyester fabrics and ultralight silk-polyamide blend with micro coating or with c_change membranes also appear.
The company’s sheen and dichroism category features bi-colours and double-faces, particularly in jacket weights. Cotton in earthy, dark natural hues on the outside display vibrant interiors in aluminium shades, while monofilament fabrics offer a wet sheen on the front and a matt nuance on the reverse. Cashmere is used to keep the wearer warm as the interior of sporty-looking soft shells, while polyester-polyamide fabrics in turquoise, red, violet or brown shades feature a subtle golden shimmer.
The function and spirit trend offers elegant, high-end sportswear with soft shells combining stretch comfort and a metallic edge. Matt looks in neoprene optics are presented alongside padded, wind-repelling stretch fabrics and abrasion-proof ceramic prints on schoeller-dryskin.
The dominant colours for the clay and chocolate theme include light powdery skin tones in very pale white, blue, green and grey shades and subdued metal tones in silver, copper or gold. These are teamed with dark chocolate, anthracite, sepia, navy and black tones. The trend is designed to evoke panache and self-confidence.
