Hampshire to introduce new sportswear line at MAGIC

US-based apparel company Hampshire Group, Limited, has launched Joseph Abboud Components, a new men’s sportswear line targeting the 35-55 year-old consumer. The autumn 2008 line will be

at the upcoming MAGIC show in Las Vegas, which will be held on February 12-15 and will be available for retail by August.

The collection focuses on texture and rich detail, using natural fibres and detailing such as leather elbow patches. The line includes sweaters, knits, woven tops, blazers, and a range of cotton, blends and 100% wool trousers.

The launch is the first step in a new licensing agreement with JA Apparel Corp. to market men’s tops and bottoms in October 2007. The second stage is expected in autumn 2009 with the launch of a women’s separates line under the Joseph Abboud brand.

The growth and direction of Joseph Abboud Components is overseen by Mark Lepine, president of Hampshire Brands, and the collection is designed by Alan Needleman, the company’s vice president of design.
