Huge rise in Hong Kong textile and apparel exports
According to Hong Kong's census and statistics department, the value of domestic exports from the leading industries – textiles, apparel, machinery and equipment, and chemicals and chemical products – accounted for 72% of the country's total domestic exports in 2007.
Apparel exports rose $7.3 billion year-on-year to $14.4 billion, while textile exports were up $6.6 billion to $28.1 billion. Machinery and equipment exports rose $5.4 billion to $10.9 billion, while domestic exports of chemicals and chemical products grew $1.3 billion to $10.5 billion.
