WTO membership to affect Ukrainian textile tariffs
Ukrainian president, Viktor Yushchenko, believes the country's economy could be significantly impacted now that it is a member of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
Following the signing of the agreement on February 5 in Geneva, the president believes GDP will rise 1.7%, boosted by foreign investment. A free trade agreement with the European Union is the next target for the country.
WTO membership will mean industrial goods tariffs on goods such as textiles, chemical products and agricultural machinery will be eliminated in many cases.
