Positive mood at IFF
The 11th International Fashion Fair opened in Istanbul yesterday with a positive address from Turkish minister of state Kursad Tuzmen.
Mr Tuzmen said that the country’s textiles industry was eighth largest in the world and that its ready-to-wear sector was fourth. He also predicted that the combined revenues from these sectors will hit $150 billion by 2023.
In 2007, Turkish garment exports rose 16% year-on-year to $13 billion and textile exports were up 17% to $9.5 billion.
The fair, which runs until February 9, is hosting 250 exhibitors from the sportswear, ready-to-wear, knitwear, lingerie, hosiery, denim and accessories sectors.
