Italian textile and clothing exports rise

According to the Italian statistics office, ISTAT, industrial production fell in December across most sectors. The most pronounced declines were seen in the leather and footwear sector (-15.8%), wood and wooden goods (-13.7%) and electrical equipment (-13%).

However, a handful of industries reported growth during 2007 compared with 2006, with the monthly average production for rubber and plastic products up 3.4%, refined petrol up 3.3% and clothing and textiles up 3.2%.
