Indian textile production goes against the grain

14/02/2008

According to the Indian statistics office, industrial production grew 7.6% in December; however, the rate of growth was almost half the 13.4% recorded in December 2006.

Furthermore, while 13 of the 17 industry groups reported positive growth, the textile sector appeared to struggle. Wool, silk and manmade textile fibres saw negative growth as a result of currency appreciation.
