RadiciGroup Radyarn introduces Nanofeel at Expofil
Italy-based producer of fibres, chemicals, textiles, plastics and machinery, RadiciGroup's Radyarn division is to launch nanotechnology-based synthetic fibre Nanofeel at Expofil in Paris on February 19-21.
Developed in collaboration with the Swiss firm HeiQ Materials, "it is a fibre that reduces bacterial proliferation in the fabric thanks to the bacteriostatic properties of a silver-based nanostructred additive," according to RadiciGroup Radyarn marketing manager, Andrea Borgis. "The nanostructured additive is incorporated into the fibre before spinning," he explains.
The new technology has initially been developed for polyester fibre but the company is now in the process of extending its application to polyamide fibre.
Following recent trials, production has started in Italy and Switzerland. The polyester version is designed for intimate apparel and sportswear to be worn directly next to the skin, while the polyamide version is for intimate apparel in general.”
