Rocky Brands seeks legal help
According to reports, US outdoor, work and Western footwear and apparel manufacturer Rocky Brands Inc. is suing former employee Glen Bratcher, who has allegedly been copying some of its boot designs. He is also accused of using a trademark similar to one belonging to Rocky and marketing his boots to the company’s customers. The case is set to be heard on April 21.
The company claims Mr Bratcher, who left the company at the beginning of 2007, has been working with one of its Chinese suppliers, Nantong Hong Yi Wang Shoes Co to make shoes based on its designs. Action has also been brought against the supplier.
Chief executive, Mike Brooks, said in a statement: "We at Rocky have worked very hard over many years to establish lines of boots well known for their appealing designs, outstanding quality and distinctive appearance.
"This is a matter of highest importance for Rocky, its employees and our customers."
