Nike sells Bauer Hockey for $200 million

21/02/2008

Nike has reached a definitive agreement to sell its Bauer Hockey subsidiary to an investor group led by Kohlberg and Company and Canadian businessman W. Graeme Roustan for $200 million in cash. Nike expects the transaction to be completed before the end of its current fiscal year. Bauer will continue to use the Nike Bauer Hockey trademark on existing products for a period of up to two years.

Hockey goods manufacturer Bauer was founded in 1927 and has been part of the Nike group for 12 years. According to Nike, Bauer developed the first skate with the blade attached to the boot, which had a significant impact on the sport. The brand is set to launch its Supreme One95 skate and 9500 helmet this spring.

Mr Roustan will serve as chairman of Bauer Hockey when the deal is complete.
