New investor for Optimer

29/02/2008
A controlling interest in US-based research and development company Optimer, Inc. has been sold to private equity group Sterling Capital by its founders, the Moore family. The acquisition will enable the company to expand its services and will also help protect its patents and trademarks.

Optimer is best known for its Performance Fibers division which markets Dri-release with FreshGuard, a moisture-release and odour inhibiting textile technology. Dri-release is used primarily in activewear and can be found in products from adidas, Polo Ralph Lauren and Hanes, among others.
Optimer conducts research involving polymer technologies, fiber and fabric processes, environmental protection and health promotion.

“We first became acquainted with Sterling in 2006 while working with them to develop a fire retardant version of Dri-release for one of their divisions,” says CEO, Dr John Moore.
