Appointment and acquisition at Puma

Sporting goods group Puma has appointed Cyprus-born designer, artist and film maker Hussein Chalayan creative director with immediate effect. He is responsible for designing, creating and developing the brand's sport fashion footwear, apparel and accessories collections and will be based in London.
Mr Chalayan's influence will be seen in autumn 2009 lines. He graduated from Central Saint Martins School of Art with an honours degree in fashion and has been named “British Designer of the Year” twice.
The company has also acquired a majority stake in Mr Chalayan's London-based fashion business and brand Hussein Chalayan.
