US-based action sports related apparel, footwear, equipment and accessories retailer Zumiez Inc. has posted higher sales results for the four-week period ended March 1.

Total net sales for the month rose 11.5% to $23.1 million compared with $20.7 million for the four-week period ended March 3, 2007.

However, comparable store sales fell 2.6% for the period compared with a comparable store sales increase of 12.4% in the prior-year period.

The company largely caters for young men and women aged 12-24 and focuses on skateboarding, surfing, snowboarding, motocross and BMX. It currently operates 288 stores.
