TextileTrends focuses on ‘smart’ textiles

07/03/2008
The fourth TextileTrends conference is to be held on June 9–11 in Hamburg, Germany. Experts from Asia, Europe and the US will attend the conference, which will look at industry trends: new business opportunities for the textile industry; sustainable growth: business models and ecological solutions; innovations: yarns, coating and finishing technologies; and applications: clothing, medical functions, construction and automotive.

June 11 will be a special day focusing on ‘intelligent’ textiles to show how reality is beginning to catch up with the vision and to transfer new developments from research to production. The day will be chaired by Markus Strecker from Interactive Wear. It will cover advances in smart textiles in the frame of European projects (STELLA, BIOTEX, PROETEX, LIDWINE), new applications and technological solutions for energy management and power harvesting.
