Lower visitor numbers at Texworld
The number of visitors at Texworld, held in Paris from February 18-21, was down 4.39% year-on-year from 17,100 in February 2007 to 16,349. More than 87% were international visitors, with higher visitors from the Americas, South Korea, Taiwan and Malaysia as well as from North Africa, Scandinavia, Ireland, the Czech Republic and Estonia. However, there were fewer visitors from the EU and Asia.
Despite this, the fair’s organisers reported increased activity at the event, which hosted 817 exhibitors. Cotton-based fabrics, organic linens and recycled products made from wool and silk were particularly popular.
This includes silk jerseys featuring recycled silk from Chinese firm Jiansu HuaJia Silk, organic cotton t-shirts from India-based Amstrong Knitting and subtle prints and fresh embroidery from Japanese company Osaka Eiko Boeki all drew a crowd.
The next Texworld will take place from September 22-25.
