US-based manufacturer of alpine, Nordic and telemark skis, snowboards and related products K2 Sports recently launched the Zero, a new more environmentally friendly snowboard. The board has a bamboo core and is now around 100 grams lighter, an added bonus for boarders.

The company has also decided to cut back on packaging in a bid to reduce the environmental impact of its operations. Boards will no longer be shrink wrapped and it aims to reduce packaging across its ski and board range in the near future.
