JS Humidifiers offers free hygrometers
UK-based humidifier manufacturer JS Humidifiers is offering textile manufacturers a free digital hygrometer to enable them to test the humidity around their production facilities. Humidity in these areas should be maintained at between 65-75% relative humidity (rH) in order to avoid static build-up, increase regain, suppress micro-dust and fly and to maintain product weight.
In cold winter months, the internal humidity in textile manufacturing plants can be as low as 20%rH because when the cold air entering the building is heated, its humidity is significantly lowered.
Textiles such as cotton, wool and man-made fibres are particularly susceptible to low humidity during spinning, twisting, winding and weaving. By humidifying, fibres are kept at optimum regain and are less prone to breakage. They also handle better and have fewer imperfections. Meanwhile, dry materials create more friction and are prone to problems associated with static build-up.
The company’s digital hygrometer shows current humidity and temperature and can display minimum and maximum levels across any time period with its memory feature.
