Gerber presents WebPDM award

Gerber Technology, a business unit of Gerber Scientific Inc, presented its WebPDM Achievement Award last month at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles. The award was given at the graduate thesis presentation event for FIDM’s International Manufacturing and Product Development Advanced Study Program.

Each year, Gerber recognises the student who best utilises the functionality of Gerber’s WebPDM product data management software to prepare and complete his or her thesis.

Tala Banatao of Los Angeles earned the award for her work in developing board shorts for the label, called Kirra, sold at Pacific Sunwear.

The FIDM programme involves the student in all phases of the product development cycle, from the initial concept and design of the product, through technical design, sourcing, costing, production and marketing to the consumer. Gerber and FIDM have partnered for more than 10 years.
