TYR launches technical swimwear
24/04/2008
The swimsuit is said to feature the first woven high performance urethane fabric ever used in competition. Doug Van Wie was wearing the suit when he set the World Record in the 4x100 metre Freestyle Relay.
Featuring rapid boundary technology – the fusion of a non-permeable, polyurethane micro-coating to a proprietary lightweight water repellent woven fabric. The new swimsuit was approved for competition by governing body FINA on April 12. It offers muscle contour seaming designed to limit muscle undulation and maximise oxygen efficiency to the swimmer's core muscles. Hydrophobic properties provide water repellency to eliminate absorption and restrict air trapping during high velocity strokes.
