Sunnytex pursues bluesign certification

Special Dyeing and Finishing Company Limited (Sunnytex), Taiwan, has set the ball running on getting bluesign certification to screen its environmental, health and safety performance at its manufacturing site.

The screening includes an on-site evaluation of textile manufacturing sites regarding the five principles of the standard: consumer safety, resource productivity, occupational health and safety, reduced air emissions and clean water emissions.

Sunnytex is particularly interested in bluesign’s 'Resource Inflation Factor' (RIF), which calculates and evaluates resources and related cost-saving potentials.

Managing director, Charles Shih, said: “Dyeing and finishing is perhaps the most energy and water consuming step in fabric production. As one of the premier dyeing facilities in Taiwan, it has always been Sunnytex’s mission to set the bar higher than required, especially in the fields of resource conservation and environmental sustainability.”

Founded in 1984, the company specialises in synthetic performance fabrics and is headquartered in Taipei.
