NIFT to open first overseas centre in Mauritius

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is to open several overseas centres. The first will be in Mauritius and should be in operation by July.

The institute is considering opening other centres in either Singapore or Malaysia. It currently runs a network of professionally managed centres all over India – in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Rae Bareli.

NIFT was set up in 1986 with the help of the government's textile ministry. It helps to equip leaders in the design, management and technology sectors and is involved in fashion business education.
