BASF fibre wins innovation award

14/05/2008

BASF’s MOOO dyeable polypropylene fibre technology has won the Society of Dyers and Colourists (SDC) Color Innovation Award 2008.

BASF has developed a completely new colouration process for polypropylene in the textile and apparel industry, enabling it to dye polypropylene more efficiently and flexibly.

The MOOO fibre incorporates ImPPulse technology which allows fabrics made from the colourless MOOO fibre to be colour-dyed, which was previously not possible for polypropylene. Fabrics can now easily be dyed with disperse dyes in aqueous media in a standard industry process. The invention also provides brilliant colour shades.

The SDC is an independent, not-for-profit educational charity and the world’s only chartered, professional body dedicated to colour. It has more than 80 years of experience in the development of colour-related standards and is responsible for introducing many of the standards used for the colourfastness performance of textiles and colour measurement.
