Multifunctional textiles and smart systems at NanoEurope

14/05/2008

The sixth NanoEurope will be held in St Gallen, Switzerland, on September 16-17. This year's focus will be on multifunctional textiles and smart systems and surfaces.

The fourth NanoRegulation Conference – which is concerned with voluntary measures for handling risks associated with nanotechnology – will run concurrently.

The multifunctional textiles conference will focus on issues around marketing upgraded textiles. Representatives from a number of textile companies and scientific institutes will present innovations for various applications including the sports, building construction and protection sectors. The conference on nano-based electronic and sensor systems will cover a range of technology platforms and nanotechnological processes. These 'smart' systems allow faster response times and special surface adaptations for biological processes. The conference on systems with functionalised surfaces and structures will show how these surfaces can be adapted to specific needs.
