Xentrys to buy Propilan's fibre business

15/05/2008

Xentrys Business Unit Staple Fibers, part of the Xentrys Group (formerly Domo Fibers and Yarns) is to acquire the staple fiber business of Propilan SA. Spain-based Propilan SA develops, produces and sells polypropylene and polyethylene fibres.

The acquisition should raise Xentrys’ consolidated group turnover to €180 million ($278.6 million) for annual specialist fibres and yarns sales.

Xentrys Barcelona SA, a new company that is currently under development, will take over all of Propilan’s assets including personnel and customer portfolio.

Propilan produces approximately 16-18,000 tons of staple fibre per year, the majority of which are polypropylene fibres. The company develops and produces fibers in many colours, from 2.2 to 300 denier.
