According to reports, France-based sportswear brand Le Coq Sportif is to shut down operations at its Portland-based subsidiary. Seven office staff based at the site will be affected.

Despite a recent attempt to raise the brand's profile by marketing new clothing and footwear to a range of resorts, boutiques, tennis clubs and private athletic clubs, the company's US arm has been struggling to remain profitable.

Reports suggest the company will focus on tennis-related products for the European market, for which there is significant demand. Founded in 1948, It produces a range of sports equipment including shoes and apparel.
