New women’s sleep gear at TNF
The North Face has launched new sleeping bags for women. The company has redesigned the women’s versions of both the Cat’s Meow and the Blue Kazoo to offer better fit and to cater for temperature distinctions.
The women’s Cat’s Meow is a synthetic, compressible sleeping bag designed for three season winter mountaineering. Featuring an overlapping shingle construction for efficiency and filled with Climashield Prism synthetic insulation, the bag is lined with a silken interior for softness and breathability. The zip column features a welded no-snag stiffener and provides a full-length draft protection tube. For temperature control, there is an adjustable, synthetic fill draft collar with a soft microfleece cord tunnel, as well as a welded, reinforced Velcro flap to keep in warmth even in temperatures of minus 7ºC. The women’s bag has a narrower cut in the shoulders, is shorter in length and wider at the hips and offers increased insulation in the hood, handwarmer pocket and footbox.
The women’s Blue Kazoo features a trapezoidal baffle system to maintain a constant baffle volume and prevent cold spots. It is a three season down sleeping bag stuffed with 600-fill Eastern European goose down. It is also designed with the female shape in mind and offers protection even down to minus 10ºC. The sleeping bag features a seven-chamber sculpted hood, a down-filled draft tube and face comfort tube with enhanced internal heat trap.  Climashield Prism pads in compression zones such as the head, torso and feet provide up to 13% greater thermal efficiency by creating an insulating buffer between the sleeper and the ground. It also has a vaulted ergonomic footbox to prevent cramped toes, sleeping pad retention loops, a glow-in-the-dark zip pull, no-snag bonded stiffener in the zip column and bonded watch pocket with water resistant zip.
