Hugo Boss AG appointed Claus-Dietrich Lahrs as a board member and CEO, with effect from August 1.

Mr Lahrs is currently managing director of Christian Dior Couture, a post he has held since 2003. The division has 3,000 employees and generated sales of €800 million n 2007. He has worked for Christian Dior/Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy for 12 years.

Prior to this, Mr Lahrs worked for the Richmond group for five years and was responsible for sales and marketing of the Cartier brand in Northern Europe.

First quarter sales were up 2% at Hugo Boss to €510 million compared with €500 million in the first quarter of 2007, with particularly high growth in North America and Asia.
