ABIT brings overseas visitors to Texfair

The Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association (ABIT) is to bring approximately 15 international buyers from Costa Rica, France, Portugal, Colombia, Mexico and Canada to Texfair. It will also welcome journalists from England, Turkey and Italy.

ABIT’s Texbrasil programme will sponsor visitors as well as supporting and preparing companies to present Brazilian products in the international market. It will promote business between exhibiters and international buyers.

The textile and apparel industry is the main industrial activity in the city of Blumenau, where the fair will take place. The city hosts 952 companies from the sector, which generate 26,500 jobs. Altogether, the state of Santa Catarina includes 7,241 textile and apparel firms generating 280,000 direct jobs.

The state is the second most important in the sector with annual earnings exceeding $5 billion, representing nearly 15.5% of the country’s textile GDP, which is approximately $34.6 billion.
