LaCrosse Footwear to close distribution centres
LaCrosse Footwear Inc. is to close two distribution centres in the La Crosse area, replacing them will a new Indianapolis plant. The two centres, which currently employ 32 workers, are set to close at the end of April 2009.
It has chosen Indianapolis because it meets the company's criteria – which include competitive annual costs and access to interstate transportation hubs. It claims 70 per cent of customer orders will be able to be delivered within 24 hours when the new centre is up and running.
LaCrosse supplies protective shoes for industries including law enforcement, agriculture, fire fighting, construction, industry and military services as well as for outdoor activities such as hunting, outdoor cross training and hiking.
