Adidas unveils new Kevin Garnett shoe

04/06/2008

Adidas has launched a rare version of Boston Celtics basketball player Kevin Garnett’s 2008/09 team signature commander shoe. The launch has been timed to commemorate the Celtics' historic run at the NBA Championship.

The German sportswear firm will produce just eight pairs per game, so between 28 and 56 pairs will be made depending on the number of games are played. One pair autographed by Mr Garnett will be auctioned off on NBA.com after the finals. The profits from this sale will go to NBA Cares community partners in the Boston area.

The adidas team signature KG commander is set to launch in October, but for this year's NBA finals, Mr Garnett will wear a special version that will feature the Larry O'Brien NBA Championship Trophy on the medial side, and an embroidered callout to games one to seven on the lateral side. The number of that night's game will be in green while the others will be white. The numbers will also get larger as each game grows in significance.
