Oeko-Tex certification for Unimark
Producer of heat transfer products for apparel, textiles and footwear Unimark has been granted the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Certification. This international eco-label indicates that Unimark will voluntarily test its products to assure they are free from harmful levels of more than 100 substances known to be detrimental to human health. The restricted substances list includes formaldehyde, heavy metals, pesticides, and carcinogenic dyestuffs.
The company secured certification for its major product lines: the Easy Stretch Series of transfers for stretch fabrics; the Comfort Series of stretch transfers for tagless labels in close-to-the-body items; and Tuff Text rugged transfers for sports uniforms. It was granted product class two certification for items that come into close contact with human skin, such as intimates, clothing and bedding, and the more stringent product class one certification for children’s apparel, textile toys and bedding.
“As concerns about textile safety grow in the industries we serve, we determined that the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Certification was the best method to reassure our customers that our products are safe,” said Steven Anderson, global sales and marketing manager for Unimark USA.
The company will display its Oeko-Tex certified products at Interfiliere 2008, which will be held September 6-8 in Paris.
