Adidas sues Wal-Mart over copying allegations
German sportswear form adidas had initiated legal proceedings against American retailer Wal-Mart, which it claims has been selling shoes bearing similar markings to the three-stripe Adidas trademark.
The application was made in Portland, Oregon, where adidas has its US headquarters. Hearings are set to begin on October 6.
The company recently won a copyright case in Portland against shoe retailer Payless Shoesource, after it started selling shoes with markings deemed to be similar to the adidas stripes. Adidas was awarded $305 million in damages.
