New and ad hoc fabrics from Maglificio Ripa

These include Light Plasma Treatment, an extension of its Light range, which has been developed in partnership with another Italian producer, T-C of Castelletto Ticino, and a local research centre. Although appearing identical to Maglificio Ripa’s basic Light fabric, the new addition has received atmospheric plasma treatment, making it fully waterproof. Water beads up on the surface of the fabric, simulating the mercury effect. Not only is it able to withstand many washing sessions, it also offers good breathability. Comparative testing on the fabric is currently underway.
Other recent editions include Pearl and London, two light 100% polyester textured fabrics (120-130 gr/m³) that are suitable for sports underwear and inserts in technical jerseys. The fabrics are transfer printable.
Pearl also exists in a Carbon version, along with Missouri and Illinois. All three are polyester fabrics with a small percentage of Resistex Carbon fibre. Missouri, featuring 4% carbon, exists in versions from 135 gr/m² to 180 gr/m². It is being used by Slam in its new Area 51 jersey for the Beijing Olympics, and by another Italian producer, Nalini, in a new range of sports underwear.
Maglificio Ripa has also added a number of new double-face fabrics to its range with a new yarn-dyed polypropylene fibre for the inside, and polyamide, cotton or silk on the outside for an aesthetic silk effect or for improved printability.
The company offers its clients ad hoc fabrics so that specific performance and technical requirements can be achieved, and these new fabrics will help it to provide more functional and aesthetic benefits.
