Santa Barbara-based lifestyle apparel company Horny Toad Activewear Inc has acquired eco clothing brand Nau, which announced it was to close on May 2 following financing difficulties.

"We're still committed to being a catalyst for positive change and bringing distinctive product to our customers," said Mark Galbraith, who now works for the new company as Nau's head of product design.

The new Nau will launch on August 1 as a new and separate company supported by Horny Toad, its new parent company. It plans to reopen with a new autumn/holiday collection with an emphasis on "beauty, performance and sustainability".

As in the past, it will source materials and produce garments in an environmentally-sensitive way and will continue to work with manufacturing partners in order to promote social and environmental responsibility.
