Hong Kong-born Irish resident John Rocha, has designed the Olympic team ceremonial uniform, which was unveiled at a ceremony in Dublin. Hosted by the Olympic Council of Ireland, the ceremony was attended by Chinese ambassador, Lui Bewei, and Olympic gold medallist, Ronnie Delany.

Athletes Fionnuala Britton from Wicklow, who is competing in the women's 3,000-metre steeplechase, and Letterkenny cyclist Philip Deignan wore the uniform at the event, comprising a slim-fitting, sand-coloured wool suit with a white cotton shirt and silk tie for men and a matching wool jacket with silk skirt and top for women.

The uniform features designs crafted by textile artist Mel Bradley, from Drogheda, and are hand-painted with olive green Celtic scroll patterns. It will be worn at all the official ceremonies at the games.
