Chemicals firm DuPont is expanding its Zytel nylon 6,6 resin and Zytel HTN high-performance polyamide resin capacity at its manufacturing site in Shenzhen, China. Production is expected to start in the second quarter 2009.

Combined with a recently announced expansion for Zytel resins in Ulsan, South Korea, an additional 65,000 metric tons of capacity will be available to serve growing markets in Asia.

"One of DuPont's key strategies is 'going where the growth is’. The investment at Shenzhen is part of our overall strategy to respond to long-term growth in demand for engineering polymers," said Keith Smith, vice president and general manager DuPont Engineering Polymers.

“We expect that the market in China will continue to grow at high rates. This investment will allow us to continue to provide a local source of supply," he said.
