TenCate to produce protective fabrics in Thailand

Ten Cate Advanced Textiles and Thaliand-based Union Textile have signed an agreement to establish a joint venture under the name Ten Cate Union Protective Fabrics Asia Ltd. The new company will produce work wear and safety fabrics in Thailand and will start operating from August 16 with a workforce of approximately 200 employees.

The company will have a share capital of 385 million Baht (€7.5 million), of which TenCate will hold the majority. Its production facilities will occupy a space measuring approximately 11,000m² in the Samutprakan district, some 40 km south of Bangkok. Union Textile will contribute its present finishing production facilities, an entry into the local Asian market and the associated production and sales organisation.

Ten Cate Advanced Textiles has production plants in the United States and in the Netherlands and is well established in the safety fabrics for military and industrial applications sector. Its brand names in these markets incude TenCate Tecashield, TenCate Defender M and TenCate Tecasafe.
