Slam uses Dryarn for BMW Oracle sailing gear
Slam chairwoman, Carla Gardino, revealed at a press conference on July 8 that the company is to be the Official Apparel Supplier for BMW Oracle in the next 33^ American Cup.
The new American Cup formula, based on racing catamarans, requires technical clothing solutions and for this reason the firm will use ultra light microfibre Dryarn to produce the sportswear. It will provide Area 51 jerseys and shorts featuring Dryarn for the team to wear during regattas and training. Because of its hygroscopic properties, the fibre conveys water, sweat and humidity to the exterior. It does not absorb water so the fibre does not increase in weight. It also has an insulating capacity, keeping body heat stable.
Numerous tests have taken place, both in the laboratory and on the water, with the help of skipper Russel Coutts.
