Children’s performance wear uses Dri-release
Roonwear has designed a new line of performance apparel for young adventurers.
The company’s owners, Bryan and Rebecca Johnson set up the firm after taking their son Cameron on a backpacking trip in Panama and realising standard children’s apparel was not suitable for outdoor activities.
The Johnsons spent almost a year testing materials, looking for a performance fabric that provided comfortable, dry, odour-free protection, but also had a soft, cottony feel next to the child’s skin. They chose Optimer’s Dri-release as it seemed to fit all the requirements.
Dri-release with Freshguard is a blend of synthetic and natural fibres that accelerate the water release rate of wet fabric, to help wearers feel dry, comfortable, and odour-free.
Roonwear launched its products at Outdoor Retailer in 2007, and will extend its range this year with the launch of its new ‘Mountain to C’ line comprising more than 15 newly designed styles for children of between three months and five years. It will also continue to sell its Adventure Infant and Walkabout lines.
