Two Industry Awards for TNF

Outdoor apparel, equipment and footwear suplier The North Face received two OutDoor Industry Awards at the OutDoor tradeshow in Friedrichschafen, Germany, held July 17-20. Its Reversible Mercurial Jacket and Minibus 23 tent were honoured for their innovative technical features.

The new Minibus 23, a two-person tent, was selected its intuitive set-up and spacious interior. It utilises a DAC Jake’s Foot anchor system and a pole construction that creates greater volume without making the tent heavy to carry on backpacking trips. The lightweight poles are colour-coded to match the tent and the fly to make set-up easier.

The men’s Reversible Mercurial Jacket adapts to changes in the weather using a 'baffle' system. Worn black side out, the jacket offers the warmth and protection of an insulated performance jacket. As the temperature climbs, the jacket can be reversed for a cooling effect; the aluminum-coated silver side reflects about 40% more of the sun’s rays than the black side. The baffles that trap warm air when the black side was on the outside open for airflow when the jacket is reversed.
