Textile unit back in action
One of the oldest textile mills in Sana, Yemen, has started renovations after receiving a loan from the Chinese Government. Deputy Premier, Internal Affairs, Sadiq Amin Abu Ras, recently visited the site.
New machinery worth approximately $6.2 million will be installed at the site, boosting production to almost 7.5 tons of textiles per day. A new garment manufacturing section is also being set up and this unit will increase the daily output to 10 tons. It is expected that the apparel section will provide jobs for almost 2,500 workers.
The unit was originally established in 1963 with the help of the Chinese Government. It is expected to be back in action by September.
