Schoeller introduces new fabrics

25/07/2008

Switzerland-based functional textiles producer Schoeller has launched new fabrics for a range of different uses.

Its new ultra-fine schoeller-spirit fabrics feature the c_change membrane and offer protection from the elements. The technical polyamide fabrics are lighter and easier than previous fabrics and are particularly well suited for raincoats, offering a breathable, water repellent and windproof weather shield. A special process is used to spot-glue the c_change membrane, which adapts to varying conditions by opening and closing to ensure the body stays at the same temperature. These fabrics are available in various finishes including a shiny matte finish and a sparkling, mother-of-pearl finish.

The company has also launched a textile range inspired by motor biking and sailing, the schoeller-styltec textiles. These fabrics combine sporty fashion and individual luxury. Because of their PU or micro coating, they are wind repellent and, in conjunction with the bionic c_change climate membrane, are waterproof. The range can be used for an extremely light (under 200 g/m2), three-layer polyester jacket weights. The NanoSphere finish offers a self-cleaning effect.
