Advansa raises polyester fibre prices

29/07/2008

Polyester fibre manufacturer Advansa is to raise prices to correspond with current market conditions, which have led to a rise in Paraxlyene (PX) prices.

Following recent price increases for raw materials, energy and other elements, the price of PX has reached €100/ton, exceeding expectations for July.

As a result, the company has decided to increase its prices by 0.10 €/kg with immediate effect, on top of all current agreements.

Vice president marketing and sales, Heinz Meierkord, said: “I know that this increase will put many businesses into equal difficult situation. However, in order to maintain a functional industry, these cost increases have to go down the value chain now.”
