Bayer Corporation appoints new CEO

Greg Babe, president and CEO of Bayer MaterialScience (BMS) LLC, is to become the new president and chief executive officer of Bayer Corporation, with headquarters based in Pittsburgh. The Bayer board has also appointed him senior Bayer representative  for the Leverkusen-based group’s US and Canadian operations. Both appointments are effective October 1.

His predecessor in both of these functions, Dr Attila Molnar, will retire after 30 years of service with Bayer.

Mr Babe will continue in his current role as resident and CEO of BMS. He was previously head of Bayer Corporate and Business Services LLC, responsible for central administration and service activities in the US and Canada. He has held various management positions in the Bayer Group organisation, including assignments in Germany, since joining the company in 1978.
