Italy-based sportswear firm Lotto Sport Italia has signed a 20-year licensing deal with Chinese sporting goods company Li Ning, under which Li Ning will manufacture and distribute Lotto's products in mainland China. The deal starts in September.

With headquarters in Beijing and offices and logistics centres throughout China, Li Ning was named after its founder, a world-class gymnast who won three gold, two silver and one bronze medal at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. Its sales totalled €400 million in 2007, up 36.7% compared with 2006, and the firm hopes to achieve sales of €600 million this year.

Lotto will continue to distribute its own products in Hong Kong and Macau, through its subsidiary Lotto Sport H.K. Ltd.
